BIRDS AT TOUCAN BIRDING ECOLODGE & in the region

Yellow-throated Toucan, Costa Rica

Costa Rica has close to a thousand bird species out of which more than 200 hundred species can be seen and heard in the garden of Toucan Birding EcoLodge and in the surrounding 23 hectares of our private Wildlife Reserve. It is mainly covered by mature secondary tropical rainforest with some primary forest parts as well. We are at the Baru Hills on the Pacific Slopes at around 500 meters elevation. It is a good base to reach different altitudes where at various habitats we can find a long list of other species as well. Below you can click on, open and close different lists, first our garden and forest list, followed by some Lower Elevation & Mangrove species within short distance from us and finally some characteristic Mid- and High Elevation species whose habitats can be reached within half or maximum 2 hours drive from our home base. Please note that these lists are incomplete, we add species continuously and you have a chance to find something new to add as well! We offer a very comfortable luxury base for a memorable, comfortable birding. Once you visit Costa Rica and our place you surely want to return!
